Siquijor: Transit to Apo Island

Our Apo Island trip was booked through Coco Grove Beach Resort in San Juan, Siquijor. Thus, we had no option but to visit Siquijor, an island famous for its mystic traditions.

We left Dumaguete port at 4:30 pm via Delta Ferries.  We arrived in Siquijor port after an hour.  Upon arriving in Siquijor, we were greeted by friendly locals offering us a ride to our resort.  Since Coco Grove has expensive rates, we opted to stay at Coral Cay Beach Resort in San Juan and go to Coco Grove the morning after.  Travel time from the port to Coral Cay Beach Resort via trike is around 30 minutes. Fare was Php 50.00 for the whole tricycle.

Approaching Siquijor

While on the road, we noticed that Siquijor is very rural.  At 6pm, we noticed that nobody is on the road anymore.  The people are in their homes eating dinner and watching television.  Everything was quiet at 6pm.

When we arrived at Coral Cay, we proceeded to our villa.  It was a fully air conditioned nipa hut complete with amenities.  I would recommend this resort to everybody wishing to visit Siquijor.  For more information about Coral Cay, you may visit their website

After check-in, we went outside the resort to eat dinner.  The streets were dark and there were no people in sight.  We ate at the only carenderia that was open during that time.  When we returned to the resort, we took a dip in the pool and slept early for our trip to Apo Island the following day.

Our regret was that we never had a chance to go around the island due to limited time.  Had we known that our flight to Manila will be cancelled, we should have stayed for an extra day.
