Beijing Day 1: St. Joseph's Cathedral and Kung Fu Show

Since it was a Sunday, we proceeded to St. Joseph's Cathedral in Wangfujing Street to attend mass.  St. Joseph Cathedral was built in Romanesque Revival style.  It contains intricate European and Chinese designs.  As we entered the church, we were surprised to learn that there were lots of Catholic Chinese.

After the mass, we ate dinner at a local Chinese restaurant.  Later, we proceeded to the Red Theater to watch the Legend of Kung Fu.  Actually, we were choosing between this and the acrobat show. Since madami namang nag aacrobat sa Showtime and Pilipinas Got Talent, we decided to go to the kung fu show.

The Legend of Kung Fu is about a little boy who, through the practice of kung fu, reached the sacred goal of enlightenment.  A ticket to the kung fu show costs CNY 180 per person. The show ran for about an hour and a half.  I was surprised to find that the show was very entertaining.

The Legend of Kung Fu capped our first day in Beijing.  We had to go back to the hostel ASAP so we can rest.  We have to wake up early the next day for our trip to the Great Wall.
